Easter is the time of renewal for those of the Christian Faith. It is also the true Advent of Spring, the first major holiday weekend for the British people.

It is the time when blossom is on the bough, and spring flowers from daffodils to bluebells and primroses, backed by the bright bushes of yellow forsythia, burst into new life. Little green leaves are breaking out on the trees, the heralds of summer to come.

The clocks have advanced one hour to bring us lingering light that will eventually give us daylight until 10:00 p.m. Winter is banished, and the joy of summer awaits. It is about eggs, chicks, rabbits and lambs.

May the message of Easter that Christians see in the resurrection of the Christ, be also seen as the message of peace that Jesus the Christos gave to his followers in an equally troubled world to that in which we find ourselves today.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”

May the nations of the world see that ‘the strife is o’er and the battle won’ and give us everlasting peace.
